Mi Pueblito Columbiano

Very much like I expect you might find in Medelin (says the guy who has never been to Columbia).  The TV had what seemed to be a Columbian station on (but not too loud), the music was in Spanish and the colorful walls all  struck me as Columbian even though the sign outside said it served both Columbian and Mexican food.  I didn’t try (or see) any Mexican food, but the Columbian food was quite good.  The empanadas are the best in Dallas.  Appropriately crispy on the outside and filled with potatoes, it came with Aji picante on the side (not hot) for dipping.  It may be my new favorite condiment.

I tried the Bandeja Paisa, which included grilled steak (quite thin, not too tender, tasty), sausage (very good), pork of some sort, a fried egg, rice, beans, arepa and plaintain.  I enjoyed it thoroughly.

As to some of our criteria:  90% (seemingly) Columbian diners.  Spanish primary language spoken in restaurant.  While there aren’t any surrounding Columbian restaurants I’m aware of, there doesn’t seem to be a concentration of Columbians within any certain part of DFW.
